Jinxing the Social Stigma of Facelift Surgeries

"I'm fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of 'journalism,' the 'First Amendment' and 'celebrity news.'"

This is what Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston very recently wrote in an essay, slamming a new social norm where humiliating and ostracizing people, even on the minutest of things, have become acceptable. Well, that shaming comes majorly on social media platforms, of course.

For long, face lift surgery, or any plastic surgery procedure for that matter, has had social stigmas.

There would be some people who would shy away of these medical procedures dues to long-standing myths, and there would MANY who would avoid getting aesthetic surgery done due to the fear of being shamed and humiliated by the society for their choice of going against the cliché ‘accept who you are’.

The sad thing is- they still exist; both the myths and the fear of being judged by people.

Although the context of Jennifer Aniston’s essay was different, but the insinuation is something that top celebrities always agree with. Whether it’s Courtney Cox, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Iggy Azalea, Kenny Rogers, or Michael Jackson, all had to be at the receiving end of public’s criticism and judgment at one time of their lives.

However, public censure hasn’t stopped any of these celebrities in their journey. And their global success submits this fact beyond perfection. If anything, their charm, confidence and ‘not caring’ attitude, has not only has won them millions of fans but has also changed the way people approach plastic surgeries.

“I am not denying it”; “so what”; “and is something wrong with that”; “it’s my body, my decision”. Cool, no-regret and charming response of these celebrities to absurd questions and statements have brought surgeries like face lift Sydney, lip job, and brows lift right in the mainstream.

Reports says, 1 in every 5 American women actively consider plastic surgery. Another finding suggests that Australians now spend more on cosmetic procedures per capita than Americans.

Add to this the better practices, procedures and tools available that makes getting facelift quite easy, quick, safe and convenient, one can easily say, except for some orthodox and canonical people, the world is changing fast; and changing for good.

The social stigma that lingered with face lift Sydney and other surgical procedures is vanishing.

So if something has been holding you from heading to that plastic surgeon, let go off that boundary and make your appointment at that doctor today.

  1. Thanks for sharing this blog. Really informative. A facelift might comprise various surgeries. For instance, a full facelift consists of temporal lift, neck lift, and mid-face lift. Sometimes, a client might also consider having a direct eyebrow lift or having excess skin removed from the eyelids.
